FNAF SoTM takes players into Murray’s Costume Manor, a location filled with secrets and unfinished experiments. The story centers around Edwin Murray, an inventor whose creations went far beyond costumes and animatronics. At the heart of the game is the Mimic, a prototype endoskeleton capable of taking on different appearances, making it one of the most unpredictable threats in the series. The player’s role is to investigate, uncover hidden information, and survive encounters with a force that adapts to every move.
The manor itself is more than just a backdrop; it is designed as a labyrinth of abandoned workshops, corridors, and rooms left behind by Murray. Each space holds clues to the larger mystery, while at the same time acting as a potential trap. Light sources, broken machinery, and scattered documents guide progression, but the Mimic’s presence makes every discovery dangerous. Moving deeper into the manor means taking greater risks, as safety is never guaranteed.
The player is not entirely defenseless. While direct combat is impossible, tools and gadgets allow for limited control of the environment. These include devices for scanning, sound manipulation, and temporary distractions that can buy valuable time. Strategy depends on careful planning and resource management. To survive, players must:
Every tool has a cost, and misuse can lead to being cornered by the very threat the player is trying to avoid.
FNAF SoTM expands on the established world of Fazbear Entertainment by focusing on hidden projects and confidential experiments. The heavily redacted briefings provided to the player suggest that Murray’s work was tied to a larger corporate agenda. The story unfolds gradually through documents, audio logs, and environmental storytelling. Each fragment deepens the mystery surrounding the Mimic, the company’s interest in it, and Murray’s motivations for building such a machine.
The game offers multiple paths through the manor and different possible outcomes based on the player’s choices. With branching discoveries and variable encounters with the Mimic, no two runs are identical. Players who return will find new secrets and alternate endings, extending the experience beyond a single playthrough. FNAF SoTM is scheduled for release on June 13, 2025, inviting players to step into the shadows of Murray’s invention and test how long they can survive in a place where adaptation itself becomes the ultimate enemy.
